"El libro de David Bacon constituye una notable contribución a nuestro conocimiento sobre la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos, probablemente la más estudiada de todo el mundo. De ahí que sus imágenes y textos nos obligan a ver la miríada de detalles que comprenden mucho de la vida social de esta región fronteriza. Y si bien sus fotografías pasan en buena medida por la presencia ominosa del muro que separa a ambas naciones, también nos conducen, paradójicamente, a darnos cuenta de todo lo que existe más allá del muro de herrumbrosas paredes y cercas fronterizas.
