"Una de las características más resaltadas por los medios que cubrieron el movimiento de Cherán, así como por académicos, artistas e intelectuales que lo difundieron, fue que se trataba de una lucha, movimiento o autodefensa indígena. En ese adjetivo estaban contenidos discursos, narrativas y representaciones que mediaron la percepción de quienes después admiramos y quisimos 'ver algo' en Cherán y su lucha. Este estudio representa el esfuerzo por reflexionar de manera horizontal sobre cómo se han construido discursos, narrativas y representaciones en torno a determinadas diferencias concebidas como 'étnicas'. La reflexión estuvo centrada, además, en un proyecto comunitario por la libre determinación, por lo que el análisis de la 'cuestión étnica' estuvo en estrecha relación con sus implicaciones políticas, o se podría decir también las implicaciones étnicas de la política. Al final de cuentas, la cuestión en torno a cómo se construyen discursivamente las diferencias humanas es un asunto político, ya que se trata de una cuestión donde están en juego maneras de nombrarse y nombrar a los otros, articulando el sentido e incidiendo en las prácticas sociales." -- tomado de la contraportada. |
